Hadn't been out in quite a while and to start with it was a bit much with
some meaty waves I kept dropping speed on the way out and took a few
rinsings. Al was having fun and covered a fair few miles dissappearing
between the swell. Simon got taken down and then hit on the forehead,
probably by the fin, and came out with a nice deep cut that needed a few
stitches. Al recovered his kit back to his van then it was back into the
water.
I was still struggling to keep planing all the way out and trashed my old
5m sail, it was due to die of old age so I need to go shopping.
So now I had to rig my 4.5m and luckily the wind changed to NNW, the sun
came out, and the waves flattened off a bit. Now it was much easier to get
out and I had a good blast out the back, still a little underpowered and
after not being out for months I soon got very tired and had to come in. In
hindsight I should have waited for the afternoon and not battled with the
bigger waves in the morning!
Took my GoPro camera out in the waves for the first time and I think it was
a decent test which it survived really well.
